That is the biggest problem with this. And (one of) the point(s) I was trying to make in the "sandbox" discussion thread.

Its like kids playing:

"You cant touch that its Hot Lava"
"yes I can I have on Lava boots"
"Well this is anti lava boot lava"
"Well these are special lava boots"
"OK You can touch lava, but the monster will eat you if you do"
"I have on Monster proof armor"
And so on ....

We have to agree on the rules or this wont work.

so where are the rules? And how are we suppose to know that we even have to ask for the rules, when we were all under the assumption that this was just still an ARG with a side of CF?

What I mean is, when there was more than one curtain brought into play, how were any of us to know thats what had happend?

I was never under that assumption. I always assumed that the whole thing was someone's silly whim.

Good fun none the less.

If you haven't read this, you should. If nothing else, the next to the last paragraph.

I will make every effort to be in the chat, but I may be a bit late. RL is being a real life bitch at the moment.

Perhaps a meta thread here?

Here's my little thought for the day...

If the whole gamejack hadn't been outed in the sandbox thread, would people be so upset? What if we had just played the Clue game as though it was part of the "real" game, none the wiser? Solve the murder, catch the murderer, get our boarding passes and finally get our heinies on the island.

Not upset. I became quite lost so I went back to lurking trying to figure out what is going on. I read here others being confused and that lead to further confusion and then the disapointment that perhaps the PM team was not as prepared as they should have been.

When I finally read Space's post I did get a bit ticked off, sure. But I am not mad at pancito really. I am mad at myself because I got involved into a game that, if it allows gamejacking, I will clearly not enjoy. So thus far I have spent my time figuring out classy ways to bid adeu, not pointing figures at pancito or anyone else.

So it's not a matter of being mad really. And I love Clue too! And I would have loved to play pancito's Clue-based ARG! I just wanted to know that's what I was doing to begin with.

EXACTLY!!!!!

This alternate reality has been a fun sandbox (and anything ARGish that got my husband involved totally gets Strupwaffles). I'm just bummed he's missing the mystery fun (he probably has a card waiting for him in his PM box but he doesn't get home until the 22nd).

WUF has been a wonderful diversion from my current living situation (cause I can at least get to the IG forum and stuff from Iraq). If the PM really didn't want this mini-game to happen, he could have nipped it in the bud with a simple proclamation from himself (or the Press Secretary). Since he didn't, I felt this was sanctioned.

Now that there is an official chat with the emperor - what confuses me is will the chat be IG or OOG. I am hoping it's run IG (those are so much more fun).

Things were still getting screwy/confusing with the mix of Mr. Krop and Weasel N. Pants, as well as the fact that Krop didn't actually stay dead. It was devolving quickly into nonsense, which is fine if that's what it's supposed to be, but that isn't what we were lead to believe.

No, we weren't promised anything, but we were given a backstory and multiple trailheads to follow, as well as a chance to contribute to the backstory by taking positions, getting samoleans, and creating themes songs/flags/etc.

All of this implies a game, whether it was intended or not, and to say otherwise seems silly.

Imagine loading Silent Hill, getting the opening movie and your radio and then being told there wasn't actually a point beyond wondering around and doing whatever you wanted. Perhaps a bad analogy, but it's the closest I can come up with...

I totally understand where you all are coming from. The fact the Alfie seemed to be allergic to staying dead kinda bothered me. I just rationalized it by saying it was the hacker. Laughing

My problem, or lack thereof I suppose, is that I mainly play in a game where the PM's (yes, that's a collective of 4 main games and roughly 3 or more offshoots going all at one time), not only accept gamejacks, but they encourage them and try to integrate them into the main games if at all possible. So this seems somewhat normal to me Laughing

I'll not mimic what ndemeter and others have said but that's how I feel as well.

I just favor having a fairly good idea what I'm putting my time and effort into.

Lately, there have been a lot of games that are a little TOO chaotic for my taste. Not a fan of silliness for silliness' sake.
