You're talking about the Buena Park axon, right? Come meet us at Po Folks at noon!

This does look about right -- it is indeed a pair of phones "in the walkway to the Wax Museum." Additionally, though, macklin mentioned that the phones were on the left when you face a Starbucks. From the location of this photo, was there a Starbucks (out of frame) to the right?

And yes. I I had just turned a little to the right, I could have taken a picture of the Starbies from where I was standing when I took the picture of the phones.

Then it's them. I have just read SpaceBass' post, and given that and the fact that the person on Friday couldn't even discern a question being asked, maybe whoever answers should just start repeating "Operator" into the phone very clearly and loudly?

Also, on Friday, the call came a little late according to our watches - maybe about a minute by mine. I have read some other posts where the phone didn't ring, but people picked it up at the time it was supposed to ring anyway, and happened into the phonecall. Maybe this is worth considering as well, since there was no ring yesterday?

Re: [META] Troy Axon organization

That's it. I'm coming down.

(Have we considered the highly unpleasant possibility that these four axons were one-shots -- that is, that Melissa may not continue calling them over and over again if we blew it on Friday? It could explain why we think we have the correct phone, but it didn't ring yesterday. And I couldn't help noticing that the hello axon remained cold yesterday, too. Sad )

hello axon remains cold again today, you might be right shad0, but that would definitely hamper our ability to solve this if we are already reaching in the dark, and they take away even more clues from us. If you go to the Troy axons again and they don't ring, maybe SP will help us hear them on Tuesday.

Shad0, the page went green a few minutes before axon time, then white, the green again shortly after 3:16. Weird!

I got there at about 13:10, and met Prisoner. He said there were some other people that were going to cover some other phones; he and I remained at that set of two phones that HitsHerMark posted a picture of. The phone rang at 13:19, or very close to it (oddly, it was the right phone - I thought that it was the left one that rang on Friday, though Confused ). Anyway, Prisoner picked it up; he said "Operator" very pronouncedly, twice; then, I guess, the Troy recording played; then he said "repeat", and I listened, then the other two guys listened to it, and then one of them said "continue" followed by "bye" and "thanks" or something like that Smile

My only guess as to the lack of ringing on Saturday is that possibly someone didn't replace the receiver correctly, and that resulted in a "busy" signal or something along those lines? I guess it doesn't matter that much anymore...

On Sat. we were more interested in the phone on the left, but I remember checking to make sure that both phones were working and ready to recieve a call several times. (I didn't have a pad to doodle on with me so what else was I going to do?)

And if it was off the hook, wouldn't it have started to make that "Hey! I'm off the hook!" sound? The volume on that tone gets louder and louder the longer the phone stays off the hook... So I'm fairly sure that we would have known if it was off the hook.

If there was a glitch yesterday, I don't think it was on our end.

In a way, it kinda sorta bodes well for the DC "Hello" group... Somehow... Maybe?

Sorry I didn't get to meet you today. Very Happy

Well, I'm glad someone got it. I got stuck in traffic, showed up late, and ended up staking out the payphone by the McDonalds. Which was mostly for naught because there was somebody on the phone for about ten minutes. I'm glad it got picked up.
