An explosive in the truck to ensure the derailment. That is definitely a good theory. I'm embarrassed I didn't think of this myself. Wait no actually I thought of this from the beginning Shifty Eyes

I think you meant to say " Search is your friend."

Wagon wheel

Hey, guys, maybe you've discussed this already and I missed it.

The crashed wagon we see at the end has a wheel to keep it closed and it starts rotating apart from the damage the wagon door is having from the inside.

If it's a mindless beast (alien) we should not see that wheel rotating, right? Only the heavy damage it's taking (punching of the creature).

Or does the mechanism of such wheel-based doors make the wheel rotate as the door has some kind of movement/opening? I just don't get it.

Its an interesting idea, but if you watch it again, I don't think it is possible. In the shot with the truck hitting from in front of the train, you can clearyly see the whole truck strike, then break apart and fall onto both sides of the tracks in pieces. When it strikes, there are lots of sparks and a small fireball presumable from the gas tank, but the explosions that ensue are shown fairly clearly as coming from at least a few cars back from the engine without a doubt.

Seriously, yeah. I don't know why you would assume this is a mindless beast ever. seeing as we are dealing Area 51 top secret subject matter, I am assuming this is an extraterrestrial until persuaded otherwise, which means a being smart enough for extremely long distance space travel and all the science that goes with it. Telekinesis and telepathy are all completely feasable in my mind.

This thing appears in a frame near the end of the trailer. Maybe you can search for something in it. Just was checking for rare stuff there and found it.

If it could spin the handle, why bash the door open? I think what we have here is a steroid freak alien species with a giant brain and a flair for the dramatic.

This would also be my main gripe with the whole telekinetic alien theory. It just doesn't add up, does it?

My guess, taking the spinning handle and the pounding into consideration, would be that the wagon is holding some sort of electromagnetic device, damaged by the impact and therefore releasing EMP waves.

But then again, I don't think there's as much to the handle/door thing as I'd like.

Why would said telekinetic alien be popping rivets out of the door?

Interesting assumption here is that the development of telekinesis is directly tied to intellectual capacity. There's actually been nothing to suggest that must be the case. Of course since telekinesis isn't scientifically proven or even quantifiably observed, we can't disprove it either. Just in theoretical terms though, even a pretty basic creature could wish something would move. Consider that when we don't know how to open a complex thing, we tend to grope at various bits of it in attempts to make it open. Never seen someone in an unfamiliar car turning on the wipers and opening the trunk trying to get the lights to come on or hood to open? Now just take that equation, take away the physical contact and replace it with sheer mental force of telekinesis. Who knows, if you'd been standing right there maybe your shoes would've come untied and your pants unzipped too!

Pretty sure that the paper you found isn't relevant I'm afraid. I think google ignored the space and just picked up 2170.64 which is going to be in plenty of scientific papers. Even if not it looks like the number is a parameter for the equipment being used in that paper (I'll try and get access tomorrow through a uni server) rather than anything specificially to do with something nuclear

Check out this post [link] in the trailer analysis thread which may have hit the nail on the head for what those numbers mean.

slinkydge, could you make your thread titles a bit more descriptive, it helps new players (and the forgetful like me) work out what they're about. Tag them with a general label too [Posting Guide]

I'm going to merge this in with the trailer analysis thread as I think that's the logical place for it Smile

thank you! Smile

Beam Image

In regards to the beam image in the still. Could what folks are seeing as an "I" be a symbol for something else? Was reading up on Cosmology, and thought, what if that were the hint for a Candle, the measurement for luminous intensity. Luminous Intensity being a form of measurement between planets in relation to the sun and stars.

But if you turn it upside down its an exclamation point. Do we know for sure that this pole isnt upside down after the mayhem? Can anyone flip it 180 and see if it says anything? Just a thought..

Upside down the closest thing it says is: "h9(superscript decimal)0L+1Z!"

Which I'm guessing means nothing.
