The ingame explanation for the recipe3 files is that they are secret roads, built by Melissa.

This fits with the idea that Melissa put them there herself already, but didn't set up the unlocking mechanism because she didn't trust us. the SP just added the axons so we could intercept the paths.

Presumably Melissa already knows they're unlocked, because she made the phone calls for them. If so, then she has already found out, and doesn't care. The alternative, of course, being that she doesn't know and thought the calls were part of the main ones, in which case she's a poor mathematician.

There is another option, which doesn't really have legs, proof-wise, and that is that the Sleeping Princess impersonated Melissa for that round.

But it's still a possibility, no matter how unlikely. Alternately, the SP could've changed Melissa's calculations for her, so the numbers still were wonky, but the overall Big Picture would still look good. Again, no legs for that one, either.

hehe... perhaps Melissa will start finding other means of communicating via "CP ancestor packets"? I'm assuming CP stands for Chatter Protocol. (Hence CPA stands for "Chatter Protocol Authority".) Cuz it makes sense that she did contact us via payphones - that's pretty ancient contacts to her. Silly paranoid thought: next might be cellphones, homephones, and pagers. Who know?

My money is on Melissa giving us access to the 'classified' or higher security clips, like the previews the SP has been giving us on recipe3. Whether they'll appear as new axons or as directly downloadable wav files without the payphone malarkey remains to be seen, but I think that's what's going to happen. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Others in this thread have already thought about what might happen when Melissa finds out about the secret recipe3 page, so I thought I'd add to it with some wild spec

We are now at recipe1 for axons, and we know from the axon clips that Reach has just been glassed. This is nearing a point of resolution for the game (as expected), so any conflict between Melissa and the SP will occur soon.

Will Melissa go straight from recipe2 to recipe4 for transmission pages in two weeks? Or will this be the time when the SP is caught out, as Melissa finds the "secret hiding place behind the kitchen" that is recipe3? Should we warn the SP of this possibility (since it seems the majority consensus is to trust the SP over Melissa?)?

Secondly, now that phase 5 has come with beekeepers inducted into Melissa's "crew", there are some possible escalations in the plot to come.
What we know:
1) Melissa has mentioned the rogue process (SP) in her live chats with the axon hunters. She has made it clear she is suspicious, and talks about the concept of revenge with several.

2) Melissa has instructed her new "crew" with some secret plans and requests.

3) Melissa is suspicious that some of her crew may be spies.

Without wanting to cast aspersions on any of the new crew (really! this isn't intended personally!), what if Melissa co-opts the crewmembers, willingly or not, into a plan to trap or ambush the Sleeping Princess?

I could see Melissa forcing the crew to make a choice to prove their loyalty to her, between her or the rogue process. Do we warn the SP of this? Are we sure of which AI we should be helping?

Lastly, just a small point in support of the above - Melissa talked to her crew about her loneliness and needing help. While this is possibly straight honesty, if I were a powerful AI wanting to hunt down a spying Sleeping Princess, I would use a ploy like this to gain the sympathy of my new crew. Sympathetic people are much more willing to trust, and hence to manipulate

(Again, just wanting to point out to Shad0, xnbomb, weephun etc. I don't think you've been inducted into some secret plot against the Sleeping Princess! I just thought this was some good spec to share, so people are prepared for the possibility that Melissa might pull a fast one if given the chance!)
