[Info] Special Axon Round-Up (Updated 10/11) There are a few Axons that have slipped by us that need attention.
This thread will focus on recipe3 and long standing weekly axons.
Each of these Axons unlock their own .wav file:
the_labyrinth -
odd_duck -
At this time, Melissa has cancelled these axons. Hopefully they will be
moved or SP will get them for us. Was it because I was threatening to
have 500 beekeepers assault a building in Philly with emails and telephone
calls? I'd love to think so but I'm sure my rants go unnoticed by the PMs.
If these axons get new coords, I will wait and see if we have trouble with
them before posting information here.

UPDATE: drink_the_beer is cleared!
Many thanks for last minute saves by UCLA and Univ. of Minnesota Twin Cities axon hunters for putting us over the top on this one!
Still need the recipe3 axons, gang. Although I'm starting to get a bad feeling about the UK axon - is it, like the cranky_old_man axon, a missing or incorrect phone that SP and/or Melissa can't fix?

The UK Axon, AKA the_labyrinth, isn't a case of a missing phone since there are two right on the GPS coordinates. These have failed to ring on multiple occasions.
After this it gets tricky. This is Soho and there are dozens of payphones within a couple of blocks. All the vaguely likely options will have been covered by the end of the week at which point there are 3 possibilities;
1) PMs have the wrong number for the specified phone.
2) Phone is not in a box but in a shop in one of the near by streets.
3) GPS co-ord is way off.
In any event we're screwed because we don't have the manpower to expand the search radius by much more. Central London has way too many payphones considering the proliferation of mobiles. How do these things turn a profit?

Tourists without mobiles. Which is another problem of ours. We've had to wait up to three days just to check one phone because it's constantly in use.

Heh, they don't, my current employer is shutting a whole load of them down (and making villages who want to keep their only phone pay for the privilege)..

A couple questions from someone who wants to help but cannot afford the bus fare.
-Has anyone emailed SP the correct phone numbers for those two phones? Maybe she can tweak this road so that Melissa will be able to get in contact with us?
-Has anyone brought a GPS unit?

I wasn't thinking so I emailed Dana instead. I'm emailing the Princess tonight.

We would but no one has one. A couple of people, including me, could trying bumming them off work, but in my case I really I doubt I'd be allowed.

it seems GPS is far more prevalent amongst US beekeepers than over here, and given that I only know of one person (a friend of a friend who I can't contact) who has a GPS unit, that's not surprising.
My mobile phone from 3 has gps in the handset but it's not wired in to the software. goddamn shoddy motorola rubbish.

If I had known we needed a GPS unit, I would have asked one of my coworkers yesterday and had one today.
However, one of my coworkers has geological survey software and mapped out the coordinates for me. The coordinates are slightly southwest of mapquest and streetmap (which round without telling you).
If nobody gets it tonight, I will see what I can do to borrow a GPS unit and show up on Saturday. Please get it tonight!

Slightly?
That's way off what streetmap was getting? Can you get a street name or something as that map image is too unlclear. If you can then PM me ASAP and I'll draw up another high detail map that shows buildings and pavements etc
EDIT: Actually It is very close. It puts it above 45-49 Old Compton Street. Gimmie a mo to update my PDF map.
I misread the blue arrow for the GPS point before seeing the little blue dot.

It is only about 30 to 50 meters west southwest of the streetmap location. Here is a multimap picture of the area. Could it be on one side of the church on the grounds?

Nah it's not even that far (see above edit)
The original GPS was on the side of that church too. It looks like one of the 6 will be it.
Otherwise it's inside the church (may have been checked already) or in one of the shops on Old Compton Southside.
Gimme a sec - almost updated my map and zoomed in.

I've replied in http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=75967#75967 as that's where the rest of this discussion is

OK, for ease, here's the link to the London Axon Thread.
Please take all London related comments there from now on, simply because it's easiest if everything's in the same place. Thank you for your cooperation.
