 Forum Guidelines - Please read before posting!

Since there has been some discussion about the moderation of these forums I would like to make a post here for two reasons:

a) To bump jamesi's post of the general guidelines.

b) To address some of the cries for "let's get some new moderators". Over the years of existence unFiction has seen its shares of spam attacks, troll attacks, people getting completely out of control, and other craziness that ensues when a large group of people get together.

This particular area has had a recent trial with user AnAppleFalls/equalopposite/whatever else nickname he created. I was most surprised to find out that this user, that managed to be so disruptive, is actually in college. Clearly the maturity level did not fit the biological age. Yet I can assure you he will not be the last. For whatever reason, there are some within a group, that identify with an idea and would much rather prefer to see a toy broken rather than allow their peers to play with it.

As SpaceBass recently posted, the best solution is self-moderation. Don't feed the trolls, use the appropriate threads to report spam, and police your own posts (especially if you have the urge to include a huge picture of a demotivational poster to make your point).

The Admins and the Moderators are there as an additional safeguard. To let us know of a situation that might need our involvement though you need to... err... let us know. We will not be involved with every thread of every SM project. And since we cannot be here 24/7 hitting refresh every 5 seconds to catch any potential problem you, as a community, need to... *cough* let us know.

At the bottom of this message there is a button that says "PM". Use it. Let me know if there's something I need to look at. If you feel like you're not getting the proper response (after you obviously allow a reasonable time) PM one of the other mods. And finally, if you feel like nobody is replying to you PM one of the Admins.
